This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Collaborate on the technical coordination and oversight layer for shared datasets and systems relevant to audit, including financial systems, recordkeeping, and downstream reporting processes.
• Lead enhancements to governance, communication, and coordination regarding upstream schema and logic modifications that impact downstream systems and audit-related workflows.
• Assist in technical analysis and downstream impact evaluation during change management for datasets, tables, and systems subject to audit.
• Create and sustain reusable audit-ready dataset patterns, incorporating automated validation, data quality checks, and monitoring processes.
• Evaluate audit-scoped processes and datasets, identify operational challenges, and suggest reengineering and long-term process enhancements.
• Offer technical direction to business stakeholders and the Audit PM concerning specific audit inquiries.
• Construct ETL pipelines, dashboards, and audit-ready data architecture to facilitate data-driven audit testing.
• Over 7 years of experience in data analytics or data engineering, preferably supporting internal audit, risk, or SOX compliance functions in fintech, payments, financial markets, or crypto sectors.
• Experience in managing and designing data architecture within a regulated setting.
• Proven track record in designing and developing data pipelines with governance, traceability, and audit requirements taken into account from the beginning.
• Practical experience in building and managing production data pipelines.
• Strong knowledge of dbt and Airflow or similar orchestration tools.
• Complete mastery of SQL, including complex joins, CTEs, and analytical functions.
• Proficient in Python for pipeline development and analysis.
• Experience in documenting technical and business requirements, which includes metadata, KPI definitions, business rules, data process flows, and data dictionaries.
• Familiarity with job scheduling, error/exception handling, and troubleshooting production ETL workflows.
• Experience collaborating with Data Engineering and/or Data Governance teams on shared datasets, schema changes, and downstream impact assessments.
• Ability to convert audit and business requirements into technical specifications, and articulate technical work in terms understandable to non-technical stakeholders.
• Nice-to-have: experience in scaling a data analytics function within an audit or risk organization.
• Nice-to-have: knowledge of AI-assisted or automation tools for data quality checks, testing, or workflow efficiency.
• Nice-to-have: familiarity with audit management platforms such as AuditBoard, Jira, or Workiva.
