This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
β’ Taking full responsibility for Apollo's litigation portfolio from start to finish β overseeing active disputes, pre-litigation demand letters, regulatory inquiries, and arbitrations in commercial, employment, and data-related areas.
β’ Acting as the main in-house liaison with external litigation counsel: defining engagement scopes, managing expenses, directing strategy, and ensuring leadership receives clear and timely updates.
β’ Developing and sustaining litigation infrastructure: implementing legal hold procedures, tracking matters, establishing outside counsel guidelines, and creating internal escalation protocols.
β’ Collaborating with the Privacy, Compliance, and Security teams on data retention policies.
β’ Providing counsel to cross-functional stakeholders β including Sales, Product, Engineering, and People β on litigation risks, preservation requirements, and strategies to avoid disputes in straightforward, actionable language.
β’ Recognizing trends within the litigation portfolio that indicate systemic product, operational, or contractual risks and proactively communicating these insights to leadership.
β’ Assisting the broader legal team with commercial disputes stemming from customer and vendor agreements, particularly by working closely with Commercial Counsel on escalated issues.
β’ Overseeing discovery workflows, including collaborating with internal teams for document collection and review, as well as managing e-discovery vendors when appropriate.
β’ Extensive litigation experience, with a proven history of managing complex commercial, data, or employment disputes as either lead or co-lead counsel; in-house litigation experience is highly preferred.
β’ Proven capability to effectively manage outside counsel β defining engagement scopes, challenging strategy and expenses, and ensuring appropriate in-house ownership of critical decisions.
β’ Proficiency in matters at the intersection of litigation and data privacy, including consumer class actions, regulatory inquiries, and disputes involving data practices; familiarity with CCPA, GDPR, or similar regulations is advantageous.
β’ Strong business acumen and the ability to translate litigation risks into practical, risk-adjusted recommendations for stakeholders who are not lawyers.
β’ Superior written and verbal communication skills β able to simplify complex issues into clear executive summaries and cross-functional guidance.
β’ Project management skills: able to monitor an active docket and keep multiple matters progressing concurrently.
β’ Previous experience in building or enhancing litigation infrastructure (hold procedures, matter tracking, outside counsel guidelines) is preferred.
β’ Comfort in fast-paced, resource-limited environments where the scope is broad and priorities can change.
β’ A genuine curiosity and interest in understanding Apollo's product, data practices, and business model as a context for legal risk.
β’ Proficient in using AI tools to improve research, drafting, and workflow efficiency.
β’ J.D. degree and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar.
