Senior Counsel, Intellectual Property

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado.

📋 Description

• Lead the formulation and implementation of a strategic global intellectual property approach, encompassing patents, trademarks, and copyrights.

• Provide counsel to leadership and interdisciplinary product and engineering teams regarding IP risks, licensing, and commercialization prospects.

• Oversee IP-related litigation, dispute resolution, and enforcement activities.

• Manage patent and trademark applications, prosecution, and portfolio oversight.

• Draft, review, and negotiate agreements related to IP, including licensing, technology transfer, non-disclosure, strategic partnerships, and supply chain contracts.

• Ensure adherence to international IP regulations and enforce internal IP policies.

• Collaborate with R&D, product, and marketing divisions globally to identify and safeguard innovative assets.

• Provide education and training to colleagues on IP best practices and risk management.

• Exceptional negotiation, drafting, and analytical abilities; experience with global IP concerns.

• Demonstrated capability to identify issues proactively, lead complex initiatives, and influence senior stakeholders by offering strategic, practical, and business-focused advice.

• Outstanding organizational skills with the capacity to handle multiple matters concurrently in a dynamic, innovative setting.

• Strong eagerness to learn and broaden areas of expertise; comfort with ambiguity and risk.

• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to problem-solving across various functional groups and stakeholders.

• Team-oriented individual who is willing to work cooperatively within a flexible and agile legal team.

• 7+ years of legal experience with a focus on intellectual property.

• Experience in patent and trademark prosecution.

• Proven track record in structuring and leading negotiations for intellectual property transactions across diverse technology sectors, including physical goods and software licenses.

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

• Admission to a U.S. state bar.

• U.S. Patent Bar qualification.

• Preference for candidates with a science or technology undergraduate degree.

• A blend of law firm and in-house experience is preferred.

• Experience in the outdoor industry is highly advantageous.
