Senior Cost Manager – Quantity Surveyor, Data Center Construction

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Serve as the primary daily contact for clients regarding cost management services.

• Provide support for large-scale, mission-critical data center and digital infrastructure projects across various U.S. markets.

• Estimate and negotiate change orders throughout the construction process.

• Create and present final cost plans as well as updated cost plans at design milestones.

• Evaluate cost estimates from design teams and general contractors.

• Reconcile changes and confirm contractor cost data accuracy.

• Collect project status updates and prepare cost estimate revisions.

• Draft written feedback and executive summaries for contractor submissions.

• Coordinate cost information from owners, contractors, suppliers, subcontractors, and architects/engineers.

• Influence engineering priorities based on cost impacts.

• Oversee cost checks, valuations, audits, and validations.

• Manage post-contract cost discrepancies, change controls, contingencies, and commitment tracking.

• Prepare presentations with funding data and lead value-engineering sessions.

• Review pricing from contractors and subcontractors while leading negotiations from the client’s side.

• Generate monthly cost reports for client presentations.

• Negotiate and finalize accounts.

• Assemble built-cost estimate records for benchmarking purposes.

• Mentor and coach emerging talent.

• Oversee commission margins, fee/resource forecasts, and financial reporting using internal software.

• Implement business management systems and delivery methodologies.

• Provide leadership while upholding company values, delivery standards, and applicable SOX controls.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, cost management, quantity surveying, engineering, or a related construction field.

• At least 5–7 years of relevant experience in a cost management role within the construction industry.

• RICS accreditation or progress towards it is preferred.

• Experience in leading cost management for medium to large, medium- to high-complexity construction projects.

• Preferred experience in mission-critical, data center, advanced technology, industrial, power, or major infrastructure settings.

• Experience supporting multi-phase campus developments, large capital programs, or highly technical facilities is preferred.

• Strongly preferred background in construction consultancy.

• Solid understanding of construction industry technical matters, procurement pathways, value management, and value engineering.

• Exceptional communication skills.

• Willingness and ability to travel and provide onsite project support, typically 25–50% of the time.

• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
