
Senior Cost Manager / Quantity Surveyor – Data Center Construction

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.
• Serve as the primary, day-to-day client liaison for cost management services.
• Assist in large-scale, mission-critical industrial and campus-style construction initiatives.
• Estimate and negotiate change orders throughout the construction process.
• Generate and present final cost plans and revised cost plans at design milestones.
• Collaborate with design services teams and general contractors to review cost estimates.
• Reconcile changes and ensure the accuracy of contractor data.
• Collect project status updates and prepare cost estimate revisions.
• Draft written comments and executive summaries for contractor submissions.
• Coordinate cost data from owners, subcontractors, suppliers, architects, and engineers.
• Prioritize engineering tasks based on cost implications.
• Proactively address scheduling challenges.
• Manage cost checks, valuations, cost variances, change control, contingencies, and commitment tracking.
• Prepare funding data presentations and facilitate value engineering sessions.
• Provide commercial insights for design optioneering and value engineering.
• Evaluate contractor and subcontractor pricing and lead negotiations on the client's behalf.
• Create monthly cost reports for client presentation.
• Negotiate and finalize accounts.
• Compile built cost estimate records for benchmarking purposes.
• Mentor and coach talent.
• Monitor commission margins, fees, resource forecasts, and financial reports using internal software.
• Implement internal business management systems, delivery methodologies, and tools.
• Comply with applicable SOX control responsibilities.
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Cost Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or a related field in construction.
• A minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience in a cost management role within the construction industry.
• Proven experience in leading cost management for medium to large-scale, medium- to high-complexity construction projects.
• Familiarity with complex, multi-phase developments and significant capital construction projects.
• Experience in supporting mission-critical, advanced technology, data center, industrial, manufacturing, infrastructure, or large campus-style projects is preferred.
• Strong preference for candidates with construction consultancy experience.
• RICS accreditation or progress towards it is preferred.
• Solid understanding of construction industry technical matters, including procurement routes, value management, and value engineering.
• Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Comfortable functioning in a client-facing capacity.
• Capable of working independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
• Ability to work proactively with minimal supervision.
• Willingness to travel to the Columbus-area project site approximately once per month.
• Ability to work remotely from Ohio or neighboring states.
