This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Responsible for overseeing extended scope controls engineering projects from initiation through hardware design, software development, commissioning, and into commercial plant operation.
• Assist in the requisition, design, structuring, validation, and commissioning of control systems for Gas Turbines (GT), Bottoming Cycle (HRSG & ST), and Balance of Plant (BOP).
• Develop the project-level controls strategy, document requirements, and lead the design and implementation of controls system projects.
• Manage projects from Inquiry to Contractual Obligation Date (ITO-COD) for high-risk complex projects as determined by internal risk assessments.
• Support ITO/Proposal initiatives.
• Work and lead using an Agile software methodology.
• Assist in defining and influencing product requirements.
• Drive the overall architecture, top-level design, verification, validation, and commissioning requirements.
• Ensure that system functionality, performance, interface, reliability, maintainability, and safety requirements, goals, and margins are well-defined and managed.
• Support and influence the development of comprehensive test plans for system verification and validation, including new article and customer system Software Acceptance Tests (SwATs), site pre-operation, startup, and commissioning.
• Coordinate the flow-down of internal and external customer requirements/tasks.
• Collaborate with Project Managers to establish the Projects Baseline Master Schedule and Cost Roll-ups.
• Lead and facilitate customer discussions/reviews to enhance controls solutions and improve customer experience and expectations.
• Promote consistent solutions across all controls (GT, ST, HRSG, BOP, Electrical).
• Exhibit System Level thinking.
• Collaborate with and maintain strong, responsive, and productive working relationships with internal GE teams as well as with external customers.
• Be accountable for Controls cost and schedule targets in collaboration with functional managers.
• Ensure clear communication to the team and business leaders.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or a related Engineering field from an accredited college or university.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in the combined cycle power plant industry, specifically in controls.
• Experience in the design and application of GE power generation controls, electrical, or accessory systems.
• Familiarity with power generation requisition processes, customer interaction, project management, or EPCs.
• Proven experience in system integration.
• Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills for engaging with the team and business leaders.
• Knowledge and experience in Gas Turbine, Steam Turbine, and/or Plant controls.
• Demonstrated ability to independently drive projects to successful completion.
• Proficient in technical writing.
• Proven experience in successfully leading a diverse technical team.
