Senior Controls Design Engineer, CAD

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Create control panels that support HVAC systems, electrical power monitoring systems, switchgear interfaces, field instrumentation, networking equipment, and integrations with third-party vendors.

• Integrate inputs from the Engineer of Record, MEP, vendors, network architecture, project documentation, standards, and naming conventions.

• Incorporate changes based on submittals, point mappings, control interfaces, and specific vendor requirements.

• Finalize BMS and EPMS control panel drawings to ensure they are ready for manufacturing.

• Conduct constructability evaluations and confirm installation feasibility, including cable routing, power distribution, site constraints, and compliance with standards.

• Detect design risks or deficiencies and implement mitigation strategies.

• Develop points mapping, wiring specifications, and vendor schematic integrations.

• Recognize opportunities for design simplification, cost efficiency, and material reduction.

• Suggest enhancements to panel architecture, wiring designs, and component choices.

• Maintain control of revisions and ensure timely submission of drawings and documents.

• Integrate commissioning requirements into deliverables for FAT/SAT/IST processes.

• Collaborate on scope, schedules, and deliverables with cross-functional teams.

• Engage with panel manufacturers and vendors to address technical inquiries and fabrication details.

• Communicate effectively with internal teams, customers, and partners.

• Serve as a Design & Engineering subject matter expert to support Project and Commissioning Managers.

• Assist project leadership in identifying risks, resolving issues, and aligning delivery schedules.

• Comply with company policies, QMS requirements, and safety standards.

• Contribute to and enhance the Quality Management System.

• Advocate for structured engineering practices and documentation methods.

• Identify and promote continuous improvement initiatives.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or a related field, along with relevant technical experience.

• 5–7 years of experience in electrical control panel design, controls engineering, automation, or systems integration.

• Experience in industrial automation, manufacturing, utilities, pharmaceuticals, water/wastewater, infrastructure, or mission-critical projects.

• Familiarity with IEC 60204, IEC 61439, and standards for electrical drafting/documentation is advantageous.

• Working knowledge of PLC, SCADA, BMS, and EPMS architectures along with associated field instrumentation.

• Understanding of drafting, design documentation, and configuration control practices.

• Proficient in EPLAN and/or AutoCAD Electrical; EPLAN experience is preferred.

• Knowledgeable in instrumentation, control panels, and networked systems.

• Capability to read and interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, and control narratives.

• Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to work independently on engineering projects.

• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

• Competence in managing priorities and meeting deadlines.

• Sound decision-making skills with keen attention to detail.
