This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Create and promote advanced, intricate programs for nuclear power initiatives related to design, operational excellence, safety, maintenance, and project management.
• Lead technical decision-making within a project team setting, collaborating with engineers and designers involved in the design, modification, and analysis of both new and existing power plant control systems, particularly focusing on digital upgrades.
• Examine, troubleshoot, and resolve a diverse range of instrumentation and controls engineering challenges.
• Oversee systems design activities to guarantee adherence to specifications, codes, and client expectations.
• Conduct Digital Systems Design Development for PLC, DCS, HSI, and networked computer systems tailored for nuclear plant systems.
• Draft functional system requirement specifications, quality assessments, and critical digital reviews.
• Engage in consulting-level tasks for digital IoT, innovation, and pioneering first-of-a-kind (FOAK) projects in the nuclear sector.
• Create and evaluate detailed calculations, covering scaling, uncertainty, and setpoint calculations for analog and digital controls applications.
• Produce documentation for design inputs necessary for drawing production, including cable block diagrams and schematics.
• Collaborate with vendors and prepare as well as review equipment purchase specifications.
• Generate reports and studies that convey technical information clearly and succinctly to fulfill client needs.
• Conduct independent reviews of work completed by others, including calculations and drawing preparations.
• Participate in client meetings and site walkdowns to confirm scope and ensure client satisfaction.
• Assist with station outage activities as necessary.
• A Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.
• A minimum of 20 years of experience in the design engineering of instrumentation and controls engineering systems within a project team environment for heavy industrial plants, emphasizing integrated, detailed system design for new facilities or replacements of existing ones.
• In-depth technical knowledge of available equipment and established pre-engineered systems to facilitate systems design execution.
• Experience acting as a firm/client liaison in a support or lead engineering capacity is preferred.
