Mobile Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Nigeria.

📋 Description

• Develop and sustain the Misan Flutter application for both iOS and Android platforms using a unified codebase, delivering features related to remittances, virtual card management, account/KYC processes, and more.

• Take ownership of architectural decisions for the app, including state management, navigation, offline/error handling, input sanitization, and the secure local storage of sensitive information.

• Collaborate with Backend Engineers to integrate with the backend API for transactions, card issuance, transaction history, notifications, and to establish clean, versioned contracts.

• Ensure the secure management of sensitive financial information on-device (such as tokens and biometric authentication) in accordance with regulatory standards.

• Enhance app performance, startup speed, and stability across a diverse range of Android and iOS devices utilized in our markets.

• Manage the release process, including submissions to the App Store and Play Store, version control, staged rollouts, and crash monitoring/reporting.

• Develop automated tests (unit/widget) and collaborate with QA to ensure comprehensive automated and manual test coverage for release candidates.

• Partner with Product Managers on project definition, technical specifications, task decomposition, delivery, monitoring, and ongoing maintenance.

• Work alongside Design to create a polished, accessible user interface that fosters user trust in financial transactions.

• Track crash reports and app analytics, swiftly addressing and resolving issues post-release.

• Utilize AI in a responsible and secure manner to enhance the quality and efficiency of your work, ensuring that any AI-assisted development complies with Misan's data sovereignty and platform security standards.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of mobile engineering experience, with substantial production experience in Flutter/Dart.

• Familiarity with Kotlin and/or Swift is advantageous.

• Proven experience in launching and maintaining a consumer app from start to finish, including navigating through App Store and Play Store review processes.

• Background in secure mobile development, including token/session management, secure storage, and biometric authentication integration.

• Comfortable working with evolving APIs and advocating for the necessary contracts for your application.

• Experience in fintech, payments, or other high-trust consumer applications is a significant advantage, given the sensitive nature of Misan's operations.

• A strong focus on performance and reliability; understanding that a fintech app must not compromise on user experience.

• Commitment to writing tests and considering edge cases (such as poor connectivity, transaction failures, and retries) as integral to your work.

• Willingness to serve as the sole/lead mobile engineer at the outset.

• Self-directed, yet aware of when to seek alignment on critical decisions.

• Excellent communication skills, enabling direct collaboration with Backend, QA, Design, and Product teams without extensive guidance.

• Proficient in using git and project management tools such as Gitlab, Jira, Notion, FigJam, etc.
