This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• The Subject Matter Expert (SME) – Course Developer is tasked with the creation and design of high-quality academic course content for Kentucky State University's accelerated online academic programs.
• In collaboration with instructional designers and academic leadership, the SME develops engaging, academically robust, and accessible online learning experiences that adhere to university standards, program learning outcomes, accreditation requirements, and relevant federal and state regulations.
• This role is project-based and does not encompass instructional duties unless specifically assigned.
• Create comprehensive online courses that align with approved program and course learning outcomes, which include syllabi, measurable learning objectives, instructional materials, lectures, readings, learning activities, discussion prompts, and assessments.
• Design authentic assessments such as papers, projects, examinations, presentations, and grading rubrics that effectively evaluate student learning and competency achievement.
• Work with instructional designers to prepare course materials for asynchronous online delivery via the University's learning management system while ensuring adherence to accessibility standards and effective online teaching practices.
• Guarantee that course content is reflective of current scholarship, professional standards, and best practices within the industry.
• Complete curriculum mapping and other essential documentation to support institutional assessment and accreditation processes.
• Integrate practical applications, case studies, and learning activities suitable for adult learners.
• Engage in the course review and revision processes by incorporating feedback from academic leadership, instructional designers, and peer reviewers.
• Ensure all instructional materials conform to copyright, fair use, accessibility, licensing, and intellectual property regulations.
• Submit finalized course materials in accordance with established development timelines and project milestones.
• Maintain the confidentiality of University information and course development resources.
• Undertake additional duties as assigned.
• Possess a graduate degree in the relevant discipline from a regionally accredited institution.
• A terminal degree may be required based on the specific academic program and accreditation standards.
• Demonstrated subject matter expertise through graduate-level teaching, scholarly research, publications, professional practice, or a combination of education and experience.
• Experience in teaching or developing graduate-level curriculum is essential.
• Exceptional written communication skills with the capacity to produce high-quality instructional materials.
• Familiarity with learning management systems and educational technologies.
• Ability to independently manage projects and adhere to established deadlines.
