This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Assist in the creation of customized data governance programs, providing insights on processes, team organization, decision-making authority, and limitations.
• Develop policies and controls to ensure effective execution of data governance.
• Introduce a contemporary viewpoint on the design and implementation of data governance.
• Articulate governance concepts in straightforward business terminology; create presentations, training resources, and adoption guides.
• Lead data governance working groups to enhance collaboration between business and technology stakeholders.
• Carry out metadata management tasks such as cataloging, lineage documentation, and stewardship workflows.
• Collaborate with business teams to draft and sustain business rules, definitions, and data quality standards.
• Implement data quality measures, including profiling, monitoring, and issue resolution, ensuring rules are feasible and embraced.
• Assist in the installation, configuration, deployment, and adoption of governance/metadata tools (e.g., Collibra, Alation, Atlan, Purview).
• Mentor client personnel on data stewardship practices—demonstrating how to manage their data effectively and sustainably.
• Offer insights on access controls, privacy, and compliance with regulations (GDPR, CCPA, etc.).
• Work alongside data engineers, analysts, and business leaders to integrate governance into daily operations, platform workflows, modeling practices, and observability.
• Set up and configure metadata/catalog tools in client environments.
• Create and maintain catalogs, including the ingestion of technical metadata, business glossaries, and lineage information.
• Identify user personas and design experiences tailored to specific roles (data stewards, data owners, analysts, engineers).
• Customize tool user experiences (workflows, dashboards, search enhancements) to boost usability and adoption.
• Proficiency in data governance principles and practices.
• Familiarity with metadata management tools (e.g., Collibra, Alation, Atlan, Purview).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Exceptional communication skills, able to convert technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
• Capability to lead and facilitate workshops and collaborative discussions.
• Understanding of data privacy laws (GDPR, CCPA).
• A collaborative team player with a proactive mindset towards data governance.
• Experience in data engineering, analytics, or related fields is advantageous.
