• Rimkus is in search of a highly proficient and meticulous Digital Forensic Examiner to perform comprehensive and legally compliant investigations of digital media.
• The Digital Forensic Examiner will take charge of the acquisition, preservation, analysis, and reporting of digital evidence matters.
• The ideal applicant will have a solid grasp of digital forensics principles, methodologies, and tools, coupled with outstanding analytical and communication abilities.
• Conduct forensic examinations of mobile devices (smartphones and tablets) operating on iOS and Android platforms.
• Execute data extractions from mobile devices using industry-standard tools and software (e.g., Cellebrite, Magnet AXIOM).
• Utilize methods to bypass or circumvent device security features (where legally permissible and ethical) to retrieve data.
• Carry out data recovery from damaged, locked, or malfunctioning mobile devices.
• Analyze mobile device data, which includes but is not limited to: call logs, SMS/MMS messages, contacts, photos, videos, emails, application data, web history, location data, and social media interactions.
• Perform analysis on SIM cards and SD cards.
• Record all findings, methodologies, and chain of custody in clear and concise reports.
• Present technical findings related to mobile device evidence to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Stay informed about current mobile forensic trends, tools, and techniques, as well as updates in mobile operating systems and security features.
• Comply with established forensic procedures, legal standards, and ethical practices concerning mobile device evidence.
• Collaborate effectively with team members on investigations involving mobile devices.
• Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally for cases as necessary.
• A Bachelor's degree is preferred but not mandatory. Experience in Law Enforcement, Information Technology, or a related field will be considered. Equivalent experience and pertinent certifications may also be acceptable.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in digital forensics investigations, with a significant emphasis on mobile device forensics.
• Demonstrated proficiency in utilizing mobile forensic tools such as Cellebrite UFED/Physical Analyzer, Magnet AXIOM, and others.
• Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills, particularly in the context of digital forensic investigations.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of articulating mobile forensic findings clearly.
• Knowledge of legal and evidentiary protocols related to mobile device evidence.
• Relevant certifications such as Cellebrite Certified Mobile Examiner (CCME), Magnet Certified Forensic Examiner (MCFE), International Association of Computer Investigative Specialists (CMDE), or similar credentials.
• Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python) for mobile forensic applications.
