Senior Compute Legal Counsel

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in France.

📋 Description

• Prepare, negotiate, and offer strategic guidance on contracts pertaining to the establishment, deployment, maintenance, and commercialization of our Compute operations, which include hardware, data center development, customer agreements, and other compute and cloud-related contracts.

• Serve as product counsel for the Mistral Compute division, offering advice on legal and regulatory compliance.

• Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams such as commercial-legal, procurement, finance, and other corporate departments.

• Develop our internal templates, practices, and guidelines to facilitate scalability for the business and legal functions.

• Provide support on various related legal matters as necessary, particularly in areas concerning compliance (e.g., OFAC and similar regulations).

⛳️ Requirements

• Educational Background: A bachelor's degree or higher (LLB, LLM, Juris Doctor preferred) from an accredited law school in Europe. Admission to practice law in another jurisdiction is an advantage.

• Experience: At least 8 years of pertinent legal experience, including in-house experience within the technology sector.

• Extensive experience in structuring and negotiating compute or infrastructure agreements, with a solid understanding of cloud and technology-related industries.

• Knowledge and usage of Artificial Intelligence: A comprehension of artificial intelligence technologies, including machine learning and natural language processing, and their applications is essential.

• Analytical Skills: Proficient in analyzing complex contractual frameworks, interactions within the contract chain, and their relation to financing issues and technical limitations. Candidates must be able to pinpoint potential legal risks and devise effective solutions or mitigation strategies. Attention to detail and strong problem-solving capabilities are essential.

• Communication Skills: Exceptional negotiation abilities. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; capable of conveying legal advice to clients and colleagues, and presenting intricate legal concepts in a clear and comprehensible manner. A business-oriented mindset with a willingness to engage with technology is crucial.

• International mindset: Experience in international environments is advantageous.

• Adaptability: Given the fast-changing nature of AI technologies and compute-related issues, along with the evolving legal landscape, candidates should be adaptable, eager to learn, and willing to enhance their skills and knowledge continuously. The ability to work independently as well as in a team-oriented, collaborative setting is necessary. Candidates should be proactive, flexible, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

• Ethical Awareness: A solid understanding of ethical issues associated with AI, such as fairness, transparency, accountability, and bias mitigation, is vital.
