This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Collaborating with clients and CBP to address CBPF 28 Requests for Information and CBPF 29 Notices of Action
• Submitting PSCs, tenders of duty, and protests
• Drafting petitions and facilitating the payment of Liquidated Damages and Penalty Cases
• Potentially filing reconciliation entries
• Addressing FTA inquiries (primarily USMCA) and assisting staff with FTA claims
• Advanced HTS classification expertise
• Partnering with CBP and clients to submit prior disclosures
• Nurturing and developing client relationships
• Serving as a compliance resource for Deringer’s various offices and departments
• Composing communications and responding to correspondence
• Ensuring adherence to Deringer-specific policies and procedures based on departmental tasks
• Reviewing the Federal Register, CSMS Messages, and International Trade Publication (ITT) daily, analyzing regulatory changes, and reporting findings to departmental leadership
• Conducting research on binding rulings, summarizing findings, and applying conclusions to inquiries from external and/or internal clients; reporting findings to departmental leadership for further review
• Performing basic legal and regulatory research and presenting findings in a professional manner
• Proactively and promptly coordinating the dissemination of information obtained from customs publications, projects, and research back to operations, including other locations; this involves interrogating Deringer’s systems to identify information needs
• Running ACE reports and generating reports from internal systems, organizing, and presenting data
• Performing calculations, reconciliations, analyzing reports, researching, and tracking and troubleshooting
• Compiling relevant data and assembling statistics and information as directed
• Seeking new sales leads, discussing and promoting the Company’s services to current clients, and promptly forwarding potential leads to the designated person (soft selling)
• Staying informed on regulations, laws, guidelines, and Deringer requirements
• Acting as a resource for internal and external clients
• Serving as a liaison with other departments and external agencies
• Managing confidential and non-routine information
• Facilitating projects of varying scope and size
• Writing or delivering presentations on a wide range of topics
• Resolving issues (e.g., billing, shipment tracking) and addressing customer concerns
• Building relationships with customers
• Performing additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor
• May involve occasional travel (less than 10% of the time)
• Licensed Customs Broker
• At least 5 years of experience in the customs industry
• Preferred customer service skill set
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
• Previous technical/compliance experience and language skills are advantageous
• Intermediate or advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office products (e.g., Word, Excel, Access)
