This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Deliver strategic, timely communications support to Community Catalyst partners and internal teams during critical decision-making moments when community influence can impact outcomes.
• Collaborate with state and community organizations to create communication interventions that align with established policy, advocacy, or campaign objectives.
• Identify prevailing narratives that influence decisions and formulate framing and messaging strategies that empower communities.
• Ensure that communication interventions facilitate both immediate results and long-term movement and narrative transformation.
• Act as a proactive communications partner for Technical Assistance (TA) recipients, aiding in the planning, implementation, and adaptation of strategies.
• Work alongside partners to define goals, target audiences, timelines, and success metrics that correspond with strategic priorities and grant obligations.
• Simplify complex policy and systems dynamics into clear, understandable communication approaches that partners can maintain.
• Promote the ethical collection and strategic application of lived-experience narratives in collaboration with communities.
• Monitor and document communication outcomes in relation to strategic priorities, TA goals, and grant deliverables, tracking indicators related to narrative influence, media quality, engagement relevance, and partner capacity.
• A minimum of 6 years of experience in advocacy communications, campaign communications, or within a communications firm or agency environment.
• Proven experience in supporting campaigns, coalitions, or partners through time-sensitive, outcome-oriented work.
• Proficiency in earned media strategy, including op-ed placement and maintaining relationships with reporters at regional or national outlets.
• Experience in conducting interviews and developing content-focused surveys to support the creation of compelling stories, blogs, and op-eds, effectively translating complex information into clear, engaging narratives.
• Familiarity with tracking, measuring, and reporting outcomes related to strategic goals or grant requirements.
• Demonstrated ability to build relationships and collaborate with storytellers as part of a broader campaign strategy.
• In-depth knowledge of Section 508 compliance and Plain Language standards, with practical experience using accessibility testing tools such as Adobe Acrobat Accessibility Checker, Microsoft Accessibility Checker, or similar tools.
• Excellent project management skills with the ability to handle multiple TA engagements concurrently.
• Comfort in working independently in fast-paced and ambiguous settings.
• Commitment to health justice, racial equity, and community-driven change.
• Experience in translating complex health policy and safety-net program concepts (e.g., Medicaid, medical debt, caregiver policy, and federal plain language standards) into clear and accessible communications for public, patient, and advocacy audiences.
• Experience managing communications across multiple concurrent funder relationships, each with unique reporting requirements and timelines.
