Senior Commissioning Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida, +11 more states.

📋 Description

• Lead and manage extensive commissioning activities throughout the design, pre-construction, construction, and post-construction stages.

• Exhibit commissioning processes and deliverables in accordance with ASHRAE, CSA, and LEED standards.

• Create comprehensive Commissioning Plans and Specifications.

• Implement QA/QC inspection programs for electrical and EPMS on complex facility projects.

• Perform site visits, oversee startup witnessing, conduct functional testing, and execute integrated systems testing.

• Utilize calibrated testing instruments such as flow hoods, anemometers, pitot tubes, IR cameras, and Power Quality Meters.

• Develop startup and testing forms, functional test scripts, and integrated systems test scripts.

• Oversee execution and witnessing activities.

• Prepare, review, and distribute commissioning deliverables.

• Create inspection checklists, test scripts, procedures, and documentation specific to projects.

• Draft Standard Operating Procedures and Methods of Procedures.

• Compile site-specific Systems Manuals and maintain Issues Logs.

• Collaborate with General Contractors, MEP trades, inspectors, authorities having jurisdiction, consultants, and contractors.

• Lead commissioning meetings and coordinate cross-functional teams.

• Schedule and coordinate JLL and project team members while ensuring contractor compliance.

• Safeguard JLL's contractual position and ensure work adheres to contracted requirements.

• Review commissioning design drawings, specifications, and submittals.

• Manage fee allocation, time, productivity, conflict resolution, and quality assurance standards.

• Provide project status reports and analyze updates from contractor schedules.

• Travel up to 50% across USA client sites, primarily along the Eastern Seaboard and Southeastern US.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent (preferably in Engineering).

• At least 10 years of relevant MEP engineering and/or field-testing experience.

• Minimum of 5 years in building commissioning and/or construction QA/QC field services.

• In-depth knowledge of commissioning processes in line with ASHRAE, CSA, and LEED standards.

• Familiarity with MEP equipment/systems installation, startup, pre-functional testing, inspections, and acceptance testing.

• Proficient in using electrical testing meters and equipment, including Power Quality Meters, thermography, NETA tests, ground tests, hi-pot, and megger.

• Experience in testing utility transformers, UPS systems, generators, automated paralleling switchgear, ATSs, STSs, fuel oil systems, PDUs, EPMS, and electrical power generation/distribution systems.

• Skilled in using calibrated testing equipment such as flow hoods, anemometers, pitot tubes, IR cameras, and various meters.

• Proficient in BIM360, CxAlloy, Facility Grid, MS Project, Word, and Excel.

• Strong data management abilities.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Capacity to coordinate multiple project schedules and provide status reports.

• Ability to analyze and report on contractor and third-party schedule updates.

• Strong aptitude for fee, time, productivity, conflict, and quality management.

• Capability to develop, review, and assess training programs for installed equipment and systems.

• CEM, CBCP, CPMP, and/or LEED designation is preferred.

• Professional Engineer (PE) or PMP certification is preferred.

• Experience in consultancy or within an owner organization is preferred.

• Background as a Facility Manager is preferred.

• Experience as an operating engineer in data centers or mission-critical facilities is preferred.

• International project experience is preferred.

• Proficiency in Spanish and/or Portuguese is advantageous.

• Willingness and ability to travel internationally as needed.

• Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
