This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Underwrite and oversee a diverse portfolio of business that includes contractors, real estate, hospitality, retail, professional risks (such as miscellaneous E&O and technology), and Medical Malpractice risks (covering beauticians, sports/fitness, and healthcare).
• Achieve service level agreements, premium, and binding ratio goals while adhering to a structured underwriting methodology.
• Manage claims assessments on both new and existing policies, offering recommendations on pricing, loss reduction, and overall account viability.
• Enhance operational efficiency by ensuring processes are streamlined and decisions are driven by data.
• Collaborate with fellow Underwriters, Underwriting Specialists, and the Leadership Team to influence the growth and profitability strategy for both new and established programs, which includes identifying and assessing new program opportunities, developing underwriting guidelines, wording, and extensions, as well as evaluating current market offerings, pricing strategies, and trends to meet customer needs and boost our market competitiveness.
• Work alongside the Insurance Analytics team to review and refine Zensurance’s binding authority programs.
• Cultivate and reinforce relationships with Zensurance brokers, serving as a reliable partner in the marketplace.
• Negotiate with carrier markets on terms and conditions that exceed our internal authority.
• Ensure data integrity and comply with underwriting standards and practices to support all underwriting processes, mitigate risks, ensure compliance, and contribute to achieving team objectives.
• Potential to assist in auditing in-house policies to ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines and authorities.
• Mentor and guide team members, sharing your expertise and promoting their professional development.
• Over 5 years of experience in commercial underwriting, particularly in property and casualty (P&C).
• Experience with Errors & Omissions (E&O) or Medical Malpractice (MedMal) is considered an advantage.
• CIP, CRM, or FCIP designation is preferred.
• Strong grasp of commercial wordings and pricing strategies.
• Proficient in MS Office Suite, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
• Familiarity with Google Workspace, Zoom, Slack, Salesforce, or other similar office tools is a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
• Ability to think strategically and maintain a solution-focused attitude.
• Capable of communicating professionally and effectively with both internal and external stakeholders, both verbally and in writing, while building strong relationships.
• Able to work collaboratively with team members, lead in group environments, and take responsibility for assigned projects.
• Must be able to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion when handling sensitive information.
