This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Review, draft, and negotiate commercial agreements with clients and channel partners.
• Support and enhance our contracting strategies across various customer segments, including government entities, higher education institutions, and highly regulated sectors.
• Assist with partner-led and channel transactions, including negotiating flowdown terms with resellers and other channel partners.
• Facilitate international and cross-border transactions within Canva’s group of companies, collaborating with clients and partners across multiple jurisdictions while navigating local legal and regulatory considerations.
• Respond swiftly to legal inquiries and requests from stakeholders across Sales and Success, Finance, Deal Desk, and other teams.
• Stay updated on pertinent laws, regulations, and industry standards, including data privacy, AI regulations, and other compliance requirements relevant to enterprise and commercial contracts.
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of contract templates, playbooks, escalation guides, and other resources for the legal team; this includes designing and delivering training to empower GTM and cross-functional stakeholders to act more swiftly and independently on routine commercial matters.
• Identify and assist in the development and implementation of enhancements to contracting processes, workflows, and tools with a scalable, future-oriented perspective.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams in Sales, Product, Finance, Security, Privacy Legal, and others to provide practical, solutions-oriented legal support.
• Licensed to practice law in a relevant EMEA jurisdiction (e.g., UK or EU member state).
• Over 8 years of in-house experience, primarily in a SaaS or rapidly growing tech company.
• Practical experience in reviewing and negotiating a wide range of contracts at a fast-paced technology firm, including enterprise SaaS transactions, AI terms, and Data Processing Agreements (DPAs).
• Exceptional communication skills.
• Experience in supporting international or cross-border transactions, preferably within EMEA or other multi-jurisdictional settings.
• Familiarity with, or a willingness to learn, the fundamentals of how Generative AI operates to apply that knowledge in supporting sales contracts.
• Proficiency in additional languages (e.g., German and/or French) is highly regarded.
