Senior COBOL/Mainframe Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Engage in the development and upkeep of systems within a Mainframe setting;

• Contribute to the design of technical solutions, ensuring they are scalable, high-performing, and of excellent quality;

• Execute intricate back-end features adhering to software engineering best practices;

• Collaborate with the Tech Lead to support scope definition, timelines, and deliverables;

• Conduct technical analysis and collect both functional and non-functional requirements;

• Implement evolutionary maintenance and ongoing enhancements of systems;

• Maintain security standards, version control, and code quality;

• Recognize and suggest improvements in processes, architecture, and application performance.

⛳️ Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in IT and 5–7 years of relevant experience;

• Proficiency in COBOL (CICS, DB2, Batch) and a Mainframe environment;

• Experience with DB2 (queries, tuning, and optimization);

• Knowledge of JCL and batch routines;

• Familiarity with security, authentication, and version control (Git);

• Skills in requirements elicitation and technical implementation;

• Competence in solution analysis and problem-solving;

• Adherence to development best practices and code quality;

• Experience in system integration (legacy/APIs) and evolutionary support;

• Nice to have: GCP, DevOps/CI-CD, .NET/SQL Server, Agile methodologies, banking domain experience, architecture/microservices, legacy modernization, and proficiency in English.
