Senior COBOL Analyst/Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Design, maintain, and evaluate COBOL solutions to fulfill business requirements

• Establish both functional and non-functional specifications

• Develop comprehensive technical solutions, estimate required effort, and outline delivery timelines

• Write code and conduct unit and integration tests, addressing defects and enhancing code performance

• Advocate for and execute best practices in software development and maintenance, offering technical support to the team while fostering innovation and ongoing improvement

• Ensure adherence to applicable security standards and regulations in software development

• Perform impact assessments for suggested modifications

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive knowledge and experience in developing applications using COBOL (at least 7 years)

• Familiarity with collaborative team environments utilizing agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban

• Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related discipline

• Understanding of code quality standards and performance evaluation for mainframe applications

• Preferred: experience with Unisys mainframe environments (COMS, DMSII, SDF, CANDE)

• Proficient in automated unit and integration testing (TDD/ATDD) for COBOL routines

• Awareness of Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) practices

• Knowledge of integration technologies (e.g., APIs, Web Services)

• Experience in mentoring and training software developers

• Familiarity with visual modeling and prototyping tools

• Proficient in SQL (Structured Query Language)
