Senior Cloud Services Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Oversee the architecture, planning, implementation, and maintenance of database systems, which includes strategic database design, planning, and execution.

• Collaborate with development teams to design and implement intricate database structures and strategies.

• Accountable for performance monitoring and tuning of database systems.

• Introduce new technologies and methodologies to enhance production systems, capacity planning, data integrity, backup and recovery solutions, and database security.

• Frequently collaborate with development teams to refine production systems, optimize workloads, and introduce new database designs and strategies.

• Guide development teams in communicating and promoting best practices for databases and T-SQL.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, MIS, Mathematics, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

• At least 7 years of experience with relational database systems.

• Minimum of 5 years in Database Design / Data Modeling.

• At least 5 years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2019 and later versions.

• A minimum of 3 years working with Azure SQL Managed Instance and Azure SQL Database.

• At least 5 years of experience in a high-demand 24x7 web environment, including participation in a production support on-call rotation.

• Over 5 years of experience in writing, optimizing, and supporting T-SQL.

• At least 5 years of experience with performance monitoring and tuning tools such as SQL Server Query Store and Extended Events.

• Strong understanding of T-SQL execution plans.

• Demonstrated success in identifying and proposing solutions to performance issues.

• Advanced experience in managing database security utilizing a least-privilege approach.

• Proficient in automating tasks using SQL Agent and Azure Automation PowerShell Runbooks.

• Familiarity with establishing and enforcing data and database coding standards.

• Experience in creating technical documentation.

• Capability to collaborate across various functional groups, including development, operations, configuration management, end users, and program managers on multiple projects.

• MySQL experience is preferred.

• Experience in data security is preferred.

• Data Warehousing experience is a plus.

• Familiarity with Change Data Capture (CDC) is preferred.

• Experience with Change Tracking is a plus.

• Familiarity with GitHub is a plus.

• Ability to recognize industry trends as they relate to databases.
