This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Implement cloud infrastructure and services utilizing Google Cloud Platform.
• Design, maintain, and oversee production infrastructure operating continuously throughout the year.
• Create secure, scalable, automated, and thoroughly documented systems.
• Educate others to manage operations effectively.
• Work alongside Engineering teams to deploy and maintain customer-facing web applications.
• Guarantee backup functionality and consistency, including restoration processes and disaster recovery plans.
• Offer DBA support, which includes installations, upgrades, database loading, migrations, and testing.
• Diagnose and resolve database and server issues.
• Execute backup and recovery for both local and remote replicated databases.
• Generate and validate data backups, including configuration data in critical environments.
• Convey timelines, service dependencies, resource constraints, and progress updates to key stakeholders.
• Uphold technical infrastructure for business continuity and disaster recovery strategies.
• Plan and coordinate Disaster Recovery drills and tabletop exercises.
• Enhance and refine infrastructure and application performance monitoring and alerting systems.
• Provide platform support through a 24/7 on-call rotation.
• Over 10 years of experience in the design, implementation, and management of highly available (HA) system architectures.
• More than 7 years of experience in administering and troubleshooting Linux and Windows systems.
• 5+ years of experience with Containerization.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with Kubernetes.
• At least 3 years of Database Administration experience, e.g., PostgreSQL, MSSQL, CloudSQL.
• Practical experience with cloud infrastructure such as GCP, AWS, Azure, etc.
• Proficient in managing large-scale infrastructure using automation tools for provisioning, software deployment, and configuration management, such as Puppet, Ansible, Terraform, etc.
• Experience managing on-call shifts for mission-critical systems.
• Strong scripting abilities in Bash, Ruby, Python, or similar languages, with an emphasis on automation.
• Familiarity with DevSecOps principles and practices.
• Exposure to CI/CD platforms like ArgoCD, Cloud Build, and Cloud Run.
• Knowledge of monitoring and observability tools such as Datadog and New Relic.
• Experience with metrics collection and visualization utilizing Prometheus and Grafana.
• Understanding of centralized logging solutions like Loki and Graylog.
• Canadian work experience is not mandatory.
