Senior Cloud Architect – Azure

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Portugal, +3 more countries.

📋 Description

• Design and take ownership of the comprehensive cloud architecture, encompassing infrastructure topology, account/subscription structure, networking, and governance models.

• Convert business and technical requirements into scalable, resilient, and secure cloud architectures.

• Establish and uphold security best practices related to identity and access management, network segmentation, encryption, and data protection.

• Work alongside the FinOps Manager to implement cost governance practices aimed at monitoring, forecasting, and optimizing cloud expenditure.

• Promote the adoption of Infrastructure as Code and automation methodologies.

• Collaborate with engineering, operations, software development, and security teams to ensure infrastructure decisions are aligned with product and business objectives.

• Assist Software R&D and Software development teams in creating robust and scalable SaaS and PaaS solutions.

• Set architecture standards, conduct design reviews, and maintain consistency across teams and projects.

• Mentor and guide engineers on cloud architecture principles and best practices.

• Assess new cloud services, tools, and industry trends to enhance technical capabilities.

• Contribute to disaster recovery planning, high-availability design, and incident response procedures.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 8 years of experience in cloud architecture, infrastructure engineering, or a similar senior technical position.

• Demonstrated success in designing and implementing large-scale, enterprise-level cloud solutions.

• Extensive experience with Microsoft Azure cloud platforms; AWS knowledge is a plus.

• Strong grasp of cloud security principles, including IAM, encryption, network security, and zero-trust architecture.

• Familiarity with relevant compliance frameworks such as GDPR, ISO 27001, and SOC 2.

• Proficient with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, and Bicep/ARM.

• Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.

• Programming/scripting skills in Python, Go, or similar languages.

• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines.

• Strong knowledge of networking concepts including VPNs, VPCs/VNets, load balancing, and DNS.

• Excellent communication skills for engaging with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Experience in mentoring and guiding engineering teams.

• Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
