This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.
• Oversees a substantial inventory of intricate claims to assess compensability and liability.
• Strategically coordinates and directs thorough claims investigations to verify coverage and establish liability, compensability, and damages.
• Evaluates and negotiates suitable claim settlements and reserves within designated authority.
• May participate in arbitrations, mediations, depositions, or trials.
• Communicates complex information regarding coverage and settlements to insured parties, claimants, and external stakeholders.
• Approves payments in line with assigned authority limits, ensuring prompt disbursement.
• Maintains precise and comprehensive claim files, including all correspondence, reports, and settlement agreements.
• May oversee the performance and coaching of staff, and may play a role in decisions regarding talent selection, development, and performance management for direct reports.
• Executes additional duties as assigned.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Risk Management and Insurance, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Typically, a minimum of 13 years of experience in property and casualty claims management.
• Completion of or ongoing progress toward a professional designation is preferred, such as Associate in Claims (AIC).
• Exceptional analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.
• Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of insurance policies, coverage, and claims handling procedures.
• Maintains and utilizes knowledge of industry laws and regulations.
• Advanced capability to organize and prioritize caseloads, ensuring timely claims resolution.
• Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to build relationships and lead negotiations.
• Proven track record of managing confidential information with care.
• Acknowledged as a subject matter expert within the organization, potentially operating at a peer level with management.
