This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Tennessee.
• Manage all civil SWPPP engineering initiatives to guarantee timely resolution of warranty claims, adherence to client and regulatory requirements, maintenance of quality standards, and alignment with budget and constructability expectations.
• Act as Signal’s primary authority on SWPPP compliance and performance, taking ownership of all SWPPP warranty and O&M erosion-related matters across operational projects.
• Assess post-construction erosion, sediment control failures, and drainage issues, devising corrective action plans that are pragmatic, cost-efficient, and compliant.
• Perform site investigations and forensic assessments of erosion and drainage challenges to identify root causes (grading, hydrology, soil conditions, installation, maintenance, etc.).
• Provide explicit field guidance to Operations teams for effective execution.
• Work collaboratively with Engineers of Record (EORs) to synchronize design intent with field performance discrepancies.
• Review civil design packages to ensure SWPPP constructability and long-term functionality.
• Create and standardize SWPPP best practices, details, and specifications.
• Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to ensure smooth integration.
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• 8–12+ years of civil engineering experience with a strong focus on: SWPPP design, implementation, and compliance.
• Expertise in erosion and sediment control.
• Knowledge of stormwater management.
• Direct experience in addressing SWPPP warranty or post-construction O&M challenges.
• Familiarity with multi-state SWPPP regulatory frameworks.
• 3+ years of experience supporting utility-scale solar or renewable EPC projects.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license (preferred or required based on the candidate).
• Proven experience in resolving field-based erosion and drainage concerns.
• Strong understanding of: NPDES permitting requirements.
• State and local SWPPP regulations.
• Hydrology and drainage design principles.
• Soil stabilization techniques and erosion control systems.
• SWPPP inspection and compliance protocols.
• Familiarity with AISC, ASCE, ANSI, ASTM, and other relevant codes and standards.
• Proficiency in relevant engineering software, including AutoCAD Civil 3D, and applicable SWPPP documentation and inspection platforms preferred.
