This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• The Claims Senior Casualty Adjuster is responsible for managing claims of moderate to high complexity that involve material damage, property, and/or liability insurance lines.
• Perform investigations through phone calls and/or fieldwork to assess liability and damages.
• May participate in legal proceedings as necessary.
• Gather and secure statements from insured parties, claimants, and witnesses.
• Engage and communicate with a diverse range of individuals, including insureds and claimants.
• Articulate benefits, coverages, fault, and the claims process, either verbally or in writing, in accordance with regulatory and statutory standards.
• Identify and effectively address moderate complexity coverage issues.
• Assess and determine claim values based on the evaluation of property, bodily injury, and liability data received.
• Negotiate settlements within authority limits with both insureds and claimants to resolve first and third party claims.
• Maintain and update database production reports and document claim files using company systems.
• Manage expenses associated with areas of responsibility.
• Verify, interpret, and resolve coverage issues by collecting necessary information to ensure policy applicability.
• Collaborate with both internal and external departments as required.
• Respond promptly to customer inquiries and issues.
• Independently manage and resolve claims within the established authority level.
• Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Preferred 7-9 years of experience in claims handling.
• Preferred 4-6 years of experience in Property, Auto, Casualty, or relevant claims administration.
• Required in-depth knowledge of claims administration best practices and procedures.
• Advanced understanding of insurance principles, fault assessment, negligence, and subrogation is required.
• Comprehensive knowledge of vehicle repair procedures and third-party liability issues.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, general computer software, and claims software.
• Advanced skills in organization and planning are required.
• Strong oral and written communication skills are essential.
• Excellent interpersonal skills are required.
• Advanced leadership abilities among peers are essential.
• Demonstrate proficiency and comprehension of medical terminology and causality.
• Valid Driver's License, acceptable Department of Motor Vehicles record, and minimum liability insurance as mandated by the State are required.
• Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter designation from the Insurance Institute of America is preferred.
• Associate in Claims designation from the Insurance Institute of America is preferred.
