Senior C++ Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Romania.

📋 Description

• Become a part of Arista Networks’ Software for Open Networking in the Cloud (SONiC) software development team.

• Develop and validate features for extensive data center networks.

• Create and deliver SONiC software for Arista switches.

• Collaborate with engineers and marketing team members to gather and comprehend functional and technical requirements.

• Produce functional specifications, design specifications, test plans, and production code.

• Engage with the SONiC community to contribute code and test modifications.

• Diagnose and resolve customer network issues, providing software releases or patches as necessary.

• Design, monitor, and troubleshoot automated software tests.

• Take ownership of projects from conception through deployment, ensuring quality delivery.

• Implement system software solutions using C, C++, and Python.

• Work on solutions for routing protocols and distributed systems software.

• Collaborate with Customer Support Engineers and System Test Engineers to identify and resolve issues.

• Mentor new and junior engineers.

• Review and contribute to specifications and implementations for the team and SONiC community.

• Develop and maintain schedules for implementation and debugging, and report weekly to the project lead.

⛳️ Requirements

• BSc, MS, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering.

• Over 2 years of relevant postgraduate work experience.

• Proficiency in C, C++, and/or Python.

• Familiarity with UNIX or Linux operating systems.

• Understanding of L2/L3 networking concepts.

• Knowledge of at least one routing protocol area, including RIP, OSPF, BGP, IS-IS, or PIM.

• Understanding of Layer 2 features such as 802.1d bridging, Spanning Tree Protocol, Link Aggregation Control Protocol, Link Layer Discovery Protocol, and RFC 1812 IP routing.

• Ability to utilize, test, and debug packet forwarding engines and vendor-specific hardware-component software libraries.

• Familiarity with distributed-systems infrastructure functions, including messaging, signaling, databases, and command-line interface techniques.

• Practical understanding of software engineering principles.

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities in software.

• Capability to independently design and implement solutions for smaller problems.

• Ability to collaborate within a small team to address medium-sized problems with minimal supervision.
