This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Develop and oversee a portfolio of commercial real estate development and construction lending relationships.
• Source and structure opportunities in commercial real estate and syndicated lending.
• Create credit recommendations by conducting thorough financial, risk, and security assessments.
• Oversee the entire lifecycle of a lending portfolio, which includes annual reviews, renewals, amendments, and continuous relationship management.
• Track portfolio performance and proactively tackle risk-related issues.
• Cultivate relationships with developers, investors, influential stakeholders, and referral partners.
• Collaborate across various business units to provide integrated member solutions and uncover cross-selling opportunities.
• Mentor and support colleagues through the sharing of knowledge and development of best practices.
• A college diploma or university degree in a relevant field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• At least 5 years of progressive experience in commercial lending with a focus on real estate development and construction financing.
• Strong background in credit underwriting, financial statement analysis, cash flow analysis, and structuring complex lending deals.
• Comprehensive knowledge of commercial real estate development lending, project risk evaluation, and security assessment.
• Proven experience in business development with a capability to forge strong relationships with members, referral partners, and influential stakeholders.
• In-depth understanding of integrated financial solutions and the ability to recognize opportunities across different business lines.
• Established expertise in commercial real estate financing and portfolio management.
• Strong analytical skills and risk assessment abilities.
• Exceptional negotiation and relationship management skills.
• Experience in mentoring or coaching colleagues and serving as a reliable resource in commercial lending.
• Familiarity with loan syndications and syndicated lending structures.
• Experience with CMHC loan origination and loan servicing is considered an asset.
• Ability to balance growth goals with effective risk management practices.
