📋 Description

• The Senior Business Intelligence (BI) Developer will take charge of the daily development and upkeep of Verisma's Power BI reporting environment, acting as the primary creator and overseer of our business intelligence solutions.

• Accountable for converting business needs into efficient, precise, and compliant reports and dashboards.

• Independently troubleshoot report issues and data inconsistencies, oversee enhancements, and ensure the reliability and accuracy of all BI assets.

• Lead the complete build lifecycle for new Power BI reports and dashboards, from gathering requirements and aligning with stakeholders to delivery and documentation.

• Write and maintain T-SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and functions to facilitate reporting and BI requirements.

• Establish and uphold BI standards, naming conventions, semantic model design patterns, and governance frameworks as the team and data platform evolve.

• Act as the BI subject matter expert during cross-functional technical discussions, architecture evaluations, and data platform planning.

• Develop and maintain thorough documentation, including report documentation, data dictionaries, field definitions, measure libraries, and process flows.

• Ensure that all reporting solutions adhere to HIPAA, HITRUST, and SOC 2 requirements for PHI data management and access governance; maintain audit-ready documentation and access control records.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

• Over 5 years of practical Power BI development experience, encompassing semantic model design, DAX authoring, report and dashboard creation, and implementation of row-level security.

• Strong expertise in T-SQL and Microsoft SQL Server (2016+), including stored procedures, views, and query optimization at a production scale; experience with SQL Server 2019 is highly preferred.

• Expert-level skills in Power BI performance optimization, covering import mode, DirectQuery, composite models, aggregations, and incremental refresh.

• Extensive experience in constructing and maintaining semantic data models with intricate relationships, calculated tables, and row-level security.

• Solid grasp of relational database design and dimensional modeling principles as they pertain to BI and reporting workloads.

• Proven ability to independently manage the entire BI build lifecycle – from gathering requirements to delivery, documentation, and ongoing maintenance – with minimal supervision.

• Demonstrated experience in defining or significantly contributing to BI standards, naming conventions, governance frameworks, or data quality initiatives.

• Experience providing technical guidance to other developers or leading code and design evaluations.

• Experience acting as a technical subject matter expert; capable of representing the BI function in cross-functional discussions and justifying design choices to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Proven ownership of HIPAA, HITRUST, or regulated data-handling compliance within a BI or reporting context; experience maintaining audit-ready documentation and access controls.

• Strong written and verbal communication abilities; capable of documenting solutions clearly and translating technical findings for business stakeholders.

• Experience creating and maintaining technical documentation such as data dictionaries, report and measure definitions, and data lineage records.

• Ability to handle competing priorities, work independently in a dynamic environment, and engage directly with business stakeholders to clarify and fulfill reporting requirements.

• Familiarity with Azure data services, including Azure SQL, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Blob Storage, or similar services.

• Experience with Power BI semantic models supported by Azure Synapse or Azure SQL.

• Knowledge of version control (Git) and CI/CD practices for BI or database deployments (e.g., Azure DevOps).

• A background in healthcare technology or other regulated industries is strongly preferred.

• Experience with Power BI Dataflows for data preparation and transformation within the BI layer.

• Familiarity with Python for data preparation, automation, or scripting tasks.

• Knowledge of SQL-based transformation tools such as dbt or similar.

• Experience with SSAS tabular models or multi-dimensional cubes.

• Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst (PL-300) certification is preferred.

• Proficient in using AI tools to enhance development, documentation, and analysis tasks.

• Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.
