Senior Business Development Manager – CMTS, Cell Line Development

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Identify, pursue, and secure high-value, complex strategic opportunities across key markets and accounts by revealing unmet needs, latent demand, and innovation-driven use cases.

• Develop comprehensive workflows and advanced technical concepts that directly impact customer decision-making processes, operational workflows, and regulatory considerations.

• Lead competitive differentiation and high-stakes deal structuring by synthesizing in-depth technical, application, and market insights to create compelling narratives for value creation that enhance our win rate.

• Direct the commercial strategy alongside Central Sales by defining technical and functional requirements that dictate solution configuration, pricing logic, and deal structure for strategic opportunities.

• Influence the market and portfolio by recognizing trends, points of innovation, and customer-driven signals that shape product strategy, roadmap decisions, and market positioning.

• Facilitate early adoption and lighthouse success by integrating solutions into critical workflows, resolving escalated technical challenges, and ensuring a smooth transition to Central Sales for scaling.

• Offer technical input to Central Sales, Business Unit stakeholders (such as PM and other BU Tech Sales roles), and Legal regarding the technical aspects of contract terms and conditions to ensure technical feasibility, clear scope definition, minimized delivery risk, and alignment with customer workflows, without assuming commercial ownership.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Master’s degree in Life Sciences (such as Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Immunology, Genetics, Chemistry, Virology) is the academic foundation for this role; a PhD is advantageous.

• Significant professional experience in senior technical sales, workflow consulting, application support, or presales in a scientific or technical environment is essential.

• Proven experience in new business development, fostering and maintaining customer relationships, and managing a sales pipeline is required.

• A demonstrated hunter mentality with a strong record of identifying, progressing, and securing new opportunities is expected.

• Practical technical expertise — including demonstrations, trials, and customer evaluations — is a vital aspect of the role.

• Strong consultative communication skills are necessary to clearly articulate both technical and commercial value to a variety of stakeholders.

• Proficiency in CRM systems and structured sales processes, along with disciplined documentation practices, is essential.

• A willingness to travel more than 50%, with a strong emphasis on external customer engagements, is critical to the role.

• Business-fluent English is required; proficiency in German is a plus.
