• Concentrate on selling performance contracting, ensuring we capture the maximum share of the customer's business.
• Focus on illustrating value at the executive level by providing solutions for business and financial challenges.
• Utilize considerable industry knowledge to influence strategic decision-making in go-to-market initiatives.
• Support large opportunities by designing, orchestrating, and delivering high-level "big picture" presentations when necessary.
• Cultivate partnerships with economic buyers and owner representatives involved in the decision-making process.
• Oversee the ongoing sales process, nurture relationships, and proactively respond to customer needs.
• Actively listen, investigate, and identify concerns.
• Comprehend the customer's business and communicate in their terminology.
• Identify, target, and initiate connections with potential customers.
• Build a network of contacts.
• Qualify and evaluate prospective customers.
• Address the customer's financial, operational, business, and environmental objectives, needs, and requirements.
• Propose solutions that align with the customer's business and financial challenges.
• Distinguish Willdan's services from competitors based on business advantages and knowledge of competitors' strategies.
• Optimize the use of assigned Project Engineering resources effectively and efficiently.
• Ensure that both the customer and Willdan receive maximum value from dedicated and assigned resources.
• Write, present, and communicate proposals effectively.
• Secure major opportunities through financial agreements.
• Employ relevant sales tools effectively to plan, document progress, and enhance business opportunities within accounts.
• Guide the sales and engineering team by fostering team relationships to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Request support from and communicate effectively with internal staff.
• Serve as the customer's advocate in dealings with Willdan to guarantee they receive the best value from our services.
• Establish appropriate customer expectations regarding Willdan service offerings.
• Spearhead the development of team sales and marketing plans and strategies.
• Lead, mentor, and collaborate with other business development managers and direct reports within the territory.
• Enhance professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing industry publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.
• A Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or a related field is required.
• At least 8-10 years of progressive field sales experience at the C-level is preferred.
• Experience in public sector energy sales with cities, counties, and school districts is preferred.
• Strong initiative and excellent interpersonal communication skills are essential.
• Proven ability to influence the market at key levels.
• Demonstrates financial and business acumen to build credibility, loyalty, trust, and commitment.
• Willingness to travel as necessary, depending on the role's requirements.
