Senior Business Data Analyst

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +4 more states.

📋 Description

• Facilitate client-facing discovery sessions to gather, document, and prioritize business requirements from operators, analysts, and executives.

• Convert ambiguous business challenges into organized analytical outputs, including data models, dashboards, KPI frameworks, and decision-support tools that ensure user adoption.

• Develop production-quality SQL queries for Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, or Redshift, while constructing reliable models in dbt or the client's modeling layer.

• Create and sustain dashboards and reporting systems using Looker, Tableau, Power BI, Sigma, or the client's preferred tools.

• Conduct proactive analyses to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities that clients may not have recognized but are essential to their understanding.

• Utilize AI tools (LLM-based analysis, natural language to SQL, agentic data exploration, AI-assisted documentation) to streamline timelines and enhance the quality of all deliverables.

• Establish a routine for client communication: including status updates, demonstrations, working sessions, and stakeholder reviews.

• Provide mentorship to junior analysts on the project and contribute to the development of BOD's analytics playbooks, templates, and internal tools.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience as a business analyst, data analyst, BI analyst, or analytics consultant.

• Proficient in SQL: including window functions, CTEs, performance tuning, and the ability to verify your own results before others need to.

• Strong foundation in data modeling principles (dimensional modeling, star/snowflake schemas, dbt or similar transformation tools).

• Practical experience with at least one cloud data warehouse (Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, Redshift) and at least one modern BI tool (Looker, Tableau, Power BI, Sigma, Mode).

• Proven ability to lead client discussions: facilitating requirements workshops, providing constructive feedback, and aligning stakeholders with varying priorities.

• Proficiency in AI tools for analytical tasks (Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, AI capabilities within BI and SQL tools) and a clear perspective on their advantages and risks.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor your message to suit the audience.

• Proactive mindset: Preferring to draft a working hypothesis and a version 1 dashboard rather than waiting for perfect requirements.
