This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Australia.
• Serve as the main point of contact for a diverse portfolio of clients, fostering strong relationships and responding to inquiries with financial insights and actionable recommendations.
• Supervise and ensure the accuracy of financial records for the client portfolio, encompassing transactions, reconciliations, and ledgers.
• Assess and manage the creation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports, guaranteeing accuracy and adherence to accounting standards.
• Oversee reconciliation procedures for bank statements, credit cards, and other accounts, pinpointing and rectifying discrepancies.
• Oversee payroll activities, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations across client accounts.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, including invoicing, payments, and collections, throughout the client portfolio.
• Assist in the preparation of tax returns and collaborate with clients and advisors during tax audits.
• Train, mentor, and assist junior bookkeeping staff, reviewing their work and supporting their professional growth.
• Utilize accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, MYOB) to manage financial data and reporting for clients.
• Monitor adherence to local, state, and federal regulations, keeping clients and the team updated on changes to accounting standards and practices.
• Identify enhancements for client processes and proactively alert senior management to potential issues or risks.
• At least 3 years of bookkeeping experience in an Australian Public Practice Firm.
• Minimum of 5 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, ideally in a public practice setting, with a background in managing client relationships.
• Proficient in Xero accounting software.
• Strong understanding of bookkeeping and accounting principles and practices.
• Exceptional client relationship management, organization, and time management skills.
• High attention to detail, with the ability to review and supervise the work of others for accuracy.
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with the confidence to interact directly with clients.
• Demonstrated capability to lead, mentor, and support junior team members.
• Ability to work independently while managing competing priorities across various clients and collaborating effectively within a team.
• Familiarity with payroll processing and tax preparation is advantageous.
