Senior Big Data, Time-Series Infrastructure Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Europe.

📋 Description

• Evaluate and select the most appropriate Big Data or NoSQL engine for high-frequency market data and trade execution logs.

• Take ownership of the installation, configuration, scaling, and long-term management of the database environment.

• Establish schemas and storage strategies for extremely large datasets, ensuring high availability and resilience.

• Develop and optimize intricate time-series queries for execution quality and liquidity metrics, ensuring that real-time monitoring tools respond in less than a second.

• Serve as the subject matter expert and mentor front-end developers and team members on effective data-layer utilization.

• Work collaboratively with the team lead and UI developers to guarantee that the data infrastructure meets product requirements.

⛳️ Requirements

• Profound expertise in at least one prominent Big Data or time-series database, such as ClickHouse, InfluxDB, or ScyllaDB/Cassandra.

• Demonstrated experience in managing high-velocity data environments, including streaming ticks, execution logs, and order book events.

• Strong capabilities in writing and fine-tuning complex queries over extremely large datasets, encompassing billions of rows.

• Extensive experience in Linux-centric environments, focusing on system-level performance and low-latency optimization.

• Ability to translate business metrics into efficient data structures, without the need to write application-level code.

• Exceptional English communication skills.

• Experience in financial markets or trading technology, such as the FIX protocol, is a plus.

• Background in high-performance hardware/software integration is advantageous.

• Familiarity with automation scripting using Python or Bash is desirable.
