Senior Backend Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Philippines.

📋 Description

• Provide technical leadership and guidance to ensure the team delivers secure, reliable, well-tested, and maintainable code to our customers.

• Take the initiative to mentor and enhance the skills of colleagues through constructive feedback during code reviews, architectural decisions, and addressing non-functional concerns such as security, privacy, and performance.

• Help shape the team's direction and priorities, actively looking for ways to better support stakeholders and efficiently break down work.

• Recognized as a leader and a clear expert in the technical areas and components managed by the team.

• Serve as a strong role model, demonstrating collaboration, accountability, and technical excellence.

• Lead the end-to-end delivery of work—from technical design and architecture to production deployment and support.

• Independently architect and deliver complex, scalable solutions across various scenarios.

• Advocate for quality within the team and establish processes to enhance it over time.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 7 years of software engineering experience with a proven track record of delivering and maintaining production software.

• At least 3 years of recent, hands-on experience with NodeJS and TypeScript.

• Strong understanding of backend ecosystems, including SQL/NoSQL databases, messaging brokers (e.g., SQS, RabbitMQ), and common software design patterns.

• Proven expertise in AWS across core services, including ECS/Fargate, Lambda, EC2, DynamoDB/RDS/Aurora, SQS/SNS/Kinesis, etc.

• Hands-on experience in architecting end-to-end systems—translating business requirements into comprehensive technical designs covering API design, data models, and infrastructure.

• Experience in designing and operating microservices and event-driven architectures built for scalability, resilience, and high performance.

• In-depth knowledge of testing across unit, integration, and end-to-end testing, with hands-on experience building and maintaining automated test suites integrated into CI/CD.

• Security-first mindset with experience in building secure services and implementing best practices for observability and maintainability.

• Actively utilizes AI-powered tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT) to enhance productivity and accelerate development.

• Passionate about mentoring engineers and effectively communicating complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Collaborative, positive, and approachable—someone who contributes to a "win together" team culture.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
