Senior Backend Engineer – Java

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Create and develop scalable backend services utilizing Java and Spring Boot.

• Construct high-performance REST APIs and microservices.

• Develop backend features for subscriptions, payments, and user entitlements.

• Implement workflows for Fire TV in-app purchases and subscription processes.

• Integrate with application stores, payment processors, and external platform APIs.

• Establish workflows for purchases, renewals, cancellations, refunds, and subscription-state transitions.

• Design robust, idempotent transaction processing systems.

• Manage retries, failures, reconciliation, and eventual consistency across distributed services.

• Create event-driven and asynchronous workflows utilizing messaging systems.

• Design systems capable of handling high throughput and sudden traffic surges.

• Enhance service latency, throughput, scalability, and infrastructure utilization.

• Boost observability through logging, metrics, tracing, and alerting.

• Diagnose complex production issues across distributed services.

• Engage in architecture reviews, code reviews, and technical design discussions.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficient programming experience with Java.

• Extensive experience with Spring Boot and the Spring ecosystem.

• Significant experience in designing RESTful APIs and microservices.

• Strong understanding of distributed systems, concurrency, and asynchronous processing.

• Experience with SQL databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.

• Familiarity with NoSQL databases is advantageous.

• Experience with caching technologies like Redis.

• Proficient with Kafka or similar event-streaming/messaging platforms.

• Knowledge of transaction management, idempotency, and data consistency.

• Experience with AWS or comparable cloud platforms.

• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.

• Strong skills in production debugging and performance optimization.

• Over 7 years of backend engineering experience.

• Expertise in architecture and system design.

• Experience in building high-throughput, low-latency, and highly available systems.

• Deep understanding of failure handling and distributed system design.

• Ability to independently drive intricate platform integrations.

• Experience in mentoring engineers and reviewing architecture and code.
