Senior Backend Engineer, Frontend Competency

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Latin America.

📋 Description

• Design, construct, and sustain highly secure and resilient backend services in Java/Spring Boot that connect with payment processors and local financial networks throughout Latin America.

• Ensure the high availability and asynchronous processing of transaction financial data, maintaining low system latency and high success rates.

• Develop and maintain React-based frontend applications, dashboards, and internal tools that communicate with your backend services, ensuring seamless integration and efficient API usage.

• Utilize AI tools to automate repetitive engineering tasks, speed up delivery, and bridge skill gaps — from scaffolding new banking integrations to code generation and review.

• Establish the technical standards through backend code evaluations, comprehensive system design reviews, and hands-on guidance for junior and mid-level engineers.

• Implement monitoring, logging, and tracing throughout the entire stack to swiftly identify issues and ensure graceful failure during external financial API downtimes.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of software engineering expertise, with significant focus on Backend/Systems development within a Fullstack or Distributed Systems environment.

• Strong expertise in Java and the Spring ecosystem, along with a deep understanding of relational databases, concurrency, microservices architecture, and scalable API development.

• At least 2 years of hands-on commercial experience with React and its modern ecosystem (Hooks, state management). While being a CSS pixel-perfect designer isn't necessary, you should be confident in creating, structuring, and optimizing responsive web applications.

• Proven ability to design and utilize RESTful and event-driven web services (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ).

• Strong adherence to TDD, integration testing (JUnit, Mockito), and frontend testing, in addition to automated deployment pipelines (GitHub Actions).

• Demonstrated use of AI tools throughout the development lifecycle (design, coding, debugging). Experience with tools such as Claude, Copilot, Devin, or workflow automation like n8n is highly regarded.

• Proficient in English and comfortable collaborating across teams, including Product, Design, and Operations.
