Senior Backend Engineer – Card Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colombia.

📋 Description

• Develop backend code in Kotlin or Python for the Affirm Card product.

• Design systems and actively participate in their implementation.

• Collaborate across teams, including Product, Analytics, and engineering, to establish and execute the strategy for the Affirm Card.

• Create APIs and data models within service-oriented and event-driven architectures.

• Engage in engineering on-call processes to enhance team growth and efficiency by minimizing toil.

• Collaborate with the Product team to expand the core decisioning service and implement features for risk and fraud mitigation.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 6 years of experience as a senior backend software engineer in either Python or Kotlin.

• In-depth knowledge of best practices for relational database systems.

• Strong grasp of distributed systems and the impact of architectural decisions on performance and maintainability.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.

• Proficient in asynchronous communication, including written technical specifications, wikis, and project plans.

• Strong project management capabilities, a high level of organization, and the aptitude to effectively highlight critical information.

• Experience with AWS or other cloud providers is advantageous.

• Previous experience with card-related systems is a plus, including Marqeta, Stripe, FIS, card processing, transaction processing, money movement, and ACH.
