Senior Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Romania, +3 more countries.

📋 Description

• Take full responsibility for and stabilize the commerce platform.

• Manage search, filtering, and sorting functions for a product catalogue exceeding 80,000 items.

• Organize extensive datasets related to products, customers, purchasing behaviors, and logistics.

• Enhance databases and optimize queries to support large catalogue workloads and improve WooCommerce performance.

• Develop and expand supplier integrations for stock synchronization, cost alignment, and pricing engines.

• Automate the order-to-fulfilment process, which includes order processing, supplier handoff, and payment workflows.

• Create multi-segment pricing strategies for customer groups with varying prices and discounts.

• Assess and influence architectural choices related to search platforms, headless solutions, data services, and AI-assisted workflows.

• Gradually take on technical ownership as the founder transitions away from hands-on technical involvement.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in backend or full-stack engineering, utilizing PHP and MySQL.

• Strong analytical skills and structured thinking abilities.

• Genuine independence and capability to address complex problems without requiring daily guidance.

• Proficiency in a Linux server environment, including deployment, debugging, and administration tasks.

• Experience in REST API design and integration.

• Familiarity with Git.

• Experience with large-scale e-commerce catalogs is highly desirable.

• Exposure to search technologies such as Elasticsearch, Solr, Algolia, or similar is a significant advantage.

• Background in ERP or supplier integration is a strong plus.

• Experience with background processing and job queue architecture is a plus.

• Familiarity with data processing and pipeline development is an asset.

• Knowledge of WooCommerce and WordPress is a strong advantage.
