Senior Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.

📋 Description

• Design and expand asynchronous REST/WebSocket APIs in Python utilizing FastAPI or comparable technologies.

• Develop sequential, concurrent, and handoff multi-agent workflows.

• Integrate various LLM providers behind a provider-agnostic layer for A/B testing and cost-efficient routing.

• Construct and maintain RAG pipelines using vector storage solutions such as pgvector, Chroma, or managed vector search services.

• Create schemas and advance data models utilizing SQLAlchemy/SQLModel-style ORM and migrations.

• Equip services with structured logging, distributed tracing, and cost/latency metrics.

• Oversee end-to-end CI/CD processes, including linting, type-checking, testing, packaging, and deployment.

• Advocate for AI throughout the delivery lifecycle and establish guidelines for generated code review, provenance, licensing, and customer data usage.

• Transform concepts into production with accountability for architecture and results.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of experience in developing production backend systems in Python, with genuine async I/O expertise.

• Direct experience in designing and scaling REST or async APIs, encompassing dependency injection and clean service architecture.

• Practical knowledge of integrating LLM APIs like OpenAI, Gemini, or similar.

• Experience in embedding AI-readiness into backend systems from inception.

• Familiarity with vector databases and RAG-style retrieval frameworks.

• Strong skills in relational databases, including schema design, query optimization, and migration practices.

• Experience in AI-augmented delivery throughout the delivery lifecycle.

• Ability to choose suitable models for various problems and recognize situations where they should not be applied.

• Experience in reviewing AI-generated code and setting guidelines for generated code review, provenance, licensing, customer data, security, and compliance.

• Comprehensive CI/CD ownership from building and testing through packaging and deployment.

• Proactive, self-motivated mindset; comfortable navigating ambiguity, rapid iteration, and managing problems until resolution.

• Bonus: Familiarity with multi-agent orchestration frameworks such as Semantic Kernel, LangChain, or similar.
