Senior Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Technical Leadership: Spearhead project execution by managing RFCs, design documentation (HLD/LLD), and execution strategies for the product development team, ensuring strict compliance with engineering best practices and standards.

• System Architecture & Scale: Design, construct, and sustain highly concurrent, low-latency backend systems capable of handling extensive transactional throughput.

• Core Engineering & Influence: Shape technical decisions and project strategies based on your backend expertise with Ruby on Rails and Go (Golang), among others. Produce clean, performance-optimized, and maintainable code.

• Platform & Data Infrastructure: Enhance database performance, fine-tune query execution, and implement cache-layer strategies (utilizing PostgreSQL, Redis, etc.) while ensuring data consistency across microservices.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work collaboratively with product managers, designers, DevOps, and other engineering teams to provide seamless integrations and outstanding user experiences.

• Technical Mentorship: Guide and coach junior and mid-level engineers (SDE-1/2), promoting their professional development, reviewing complex pull requests, and elevating the engineering culture.

• Operational Excellence: Actively identify and resolve system bottlenecks, address the root causes of recurring infrastructural issues, and advocate for automated testing, observability (tracing/metrics), and CI/CD automation.

• Strategic Evolution: Spot opportunities for organizational improvements, suggest structural technical alternatives to enhance team performance, and balance immediate feature delivery with long-term architectural integrity.

⛳️ Requirements

• Years of Experience: **5 to 8+** years of substantial, non-internship professional software development experience in dynamic product startups or large-scale tech companies.

• **Technical Stack Mastery:** Adequate knowledge of the Ruby on Rails framework alongside significant experience/proficiency in Go (Golang), concentrating on developing high-performance APIs and multi-threaded systems.

• **Distributed Systems Depth:** A solid understanding of computer science fundamentals regarding distributed systems, networks, concurrency control, and the trade-offs associated with the CAP theorem.

• **Frameworks & Storage:** Strong expertise in database ecosystems and architectural patterns such as PostgreSQL, RESTful APIs, gRPC, and MVC architecture.

• **Architectural Mindset:** A talent for problem-solving, applying first principles thinking, and a proven history of delivering high-quality software while effectively managing Non-Functional Requirements (NFRs) like reliability, scalability, security, and usability.

• **Iterative Mindset:** A tendency towards early shipping and iteration; a firm belief in making small, incremental enhancements to existing systems rather than embarking on large, multi-quarter projects.

• **Leadership & Ambiguity:** Demonstrated ability to navigate uncertainty, establish clear technical expectations, manage stakeholders, and excel in a fast-paced environment.

• **Education:** Bachelor's/Master's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
