This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Portugal.
• As a Senior Backend Stack Engineer within the Core Platform Team, you will take on a leading role in managing the TMS (Translation Management System) Platform and its associated services.
• You will spearhead the architecture, reliability, and progression of services that encompass translation workflow orchestration, vendor management, customer management, and integration with our internal systems.
• You will set the technical vision for these services, determining how they scale and upholding the quality standards expected of infrastructure-grade software.
• Take comprehensive ownership of foundational services: Manage the architecture, reliability, and strategic roadmap of platform services from end to end.
• Guide backend architectural decisions: Document architecture decision records, delineate service boundaries, and ensure services are built for scalability, resilience, and long-term maintainability.
• Design and uphold API contracts: Create and maintain clean, versioned, well-documented REST APIs for use by internal teams and increasingly by AI agents.
• Ensure technical excellence: Take responsibility for non-functional requirements such as performance, observability, security, and availability across the services you oversee.
• Collaborate across functions: Partner with product managers and domain specialists across the organization to shape the platform roadmap and translate genuine needs into effective technical solutions.
• A minimum of 5 years of backend engineering experience in production settings, with extensive expertise in C#, .NET Core / .NET 8+, ASP.NET Web API, and microservices architecture.
• A proven history of managing and enhancing production services, including schema migrations, API versioning, backward compatibility, and long-term service maintenance.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems concepts such as event-driven architecture, message queues (Azure Service Bus, RabbitMQ), sagas, idempotency, and eventual consistency.
• Significant experience with AI developer tools, including the use and development of custom agents, skills, and instructions.
• Profound proficiency with relational databases (MSSQL and/or PostgreSQL), including complex query design, schema design, indexing strategies, and performance optimization.
• Proven experience in making and documenting architectural decisions (ADRs, system design, trade-off analysis) with the capability to defend and modify your choices.
• Practical DevOps experience: Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes, Azure, with the perspective that deployment and operations ownership is part of an engineer’s responsibilities.
• Experience in designing robust, versioned REST APIs utilized by various teams, including security considerations like OAuth 2.0, API key management, and rate limiting.
• Some frontend exposure (Vue.js and/or TypeScript) — sufficient to contribute when necessary, although the primary focus remains on backend and platform.
• A history of mentoring and elevating junior engineers through code reviews, design discussions, and organically enhancing quality standards.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to clearly articulate technical decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Fluency in English is required.
• Agile, collaborative, and constructively opinionated — capable of pushing back when necessary while bringing others along.
• Flat organizational structure, real responsibility and autonomy, direct feedback, and space to advocate for your ideas.
• Opportunities for internal development, ongoing support from your People Partner, and a fun, inclusive company culture.
• An international company with over 300 employees, with offices in locations such as Copenhagen, Aarhus, Stockholm, Varberg, London, Leuven, Lille, Paris, Munich, Hamburg, Sophia Antipolis, Atlanta, Finland, and Valencia.
• Full-time FlexiWire@home option for remote work, with an open invitation to collaborate in the office.
• We prioritize our people: Enjoy Friday Bars, Summer and Christmas parties, and a genuine social atmosphere.
• Prime location in modern offices in Valencia city center, featuring a rooftop terrace overlooking Town Hall Square.
• Private health insurance coverage.
• A multicultural environment with over 20 nationalities represented in the company.
• A dog-friendly office, a large kitchen stocked with organic fruits, coffee, and snacks, plus a game room equipped with foosball, darts, board games, and bike and car parking.
