Senior Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Design and develop data-heavy, scalable REST APIs that drive essential SaaS functionalities for frontend applications and external partners.

• Collaborate with fellow members of the Development team.

• Work closely with Frontend Engineers to guarantee seamless feature delivery and reduce rework.

• Partner with QA to ensure features are ready for production.

• Collaborate with the Product team to convert product requirements into precise technical implementation plans, determining the 'how' before initiating 'npm start.'

• Create and maintain automated tests to ensure reliability and support ongoing feature development.

• Engage in code reviews, maintaining a high standard for code quality, performance, and maintainability.

• Contribute to technical documentation for APIs, data models, and backend workflows to facilitate cross-team collaboration.

• Ensure backend code and architecture adhere to modern best practices, security standards, and internal guidelines.

• Enhance, extend, and version existing APIs while ensuring backward compatibility.

• Define or refactor data models to meet the evolving needs of the application.

• Identify and resolve performance, scalability, and data integrity issues in current backend systems.

• Collaborate with strategic agencies and partners to guide them in utilizing our APIs for their customers and brands.

• Foster a culture centered around customer-focused UI, consistency, and quality.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven ability to work autonomously, manage priorities, and deliver backend features on time.

• Strong proficiency in JavaScript (ES6+) and asynchronous programming patterns.

• Expertise in NodeJS, including frameworks such as Express and Fastify.

• Experience in designing, building, and maintaining REST APIs within a production environment.

• Familiarity with AWS cloud services, including Aurora, DynamoDB, and Lambda.

• Experience with testing frameworks, including automated integration and unit testing.

• Ability to write efficient SQL code when necessary.
