This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Louisiana, +4 more states.
β’ Take ownership of the product roadmap for backend systems, APIs, and data platform functionalities.
β’ Establish API design standards, versioning practices, and principles for developer experience (DX).
β’ Propel the vision for a scalable, event-driven microservices architecture in partnership with engineering leaders.
β’ Create and oversee API governance frameworks, including authentication protocols, rate limiting, and SLA commitments.
β’ Spearhead strategy and implementation for third-party integrations, partner APIs, and the development of a marketplace ecosystem.
β’ Identify and rank integration opportunities with EHR/EMR platforms (such as Epic, Cerner, athenahealth, etc.), payer systems, and health data networks.
β’ Collaborate with technical architects to assess and adopt interoperability standards: HL7 FHIR R4 / R4B SMART on FHIR Direct Messaging / TEFCA / QHIN participation.
β’ Oversee the integration roadmap from vendor assessment through to production launch and ongoing lifecycle management.
β’ Analyze and synthesize trends in healthcare technology, regulatory changes (ONC, CMS), and the competitive landscape to guide the backend roadmap.
β’ Assess emerging capabilities, including commercial AI model APIs (Google Gemini, Anthropic Claude, OpenAI GPT), generative AI integration, and real-time data streaming, converting them into business-ready features.
β’ Develop ROI-driven business cases for platform investments, with quantified impact forecasts related to revenue, retention, or efficiency.
β’ Collaborate with Sales, Customer Success, and pre-sales teams to identify unmet integration and API requirements from the market.
β’ Act as the main product owner within backend engineering teams, managing sprint planning, backlog refinement, and stakeholder reviews.
β’ Convert complex technical requirements into clear, actionable product specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
β’ Serve as the internal API product advocate, empowering teams to effectively utilize platform capabilities.
β’ Define and monitor platform KPIs: API adoption, uptime, latency, integration success rates, and developer satisfaction.
β’ Minimum of 7 years of experience in product management.
β’ At least 4 years dedicated to backend systems, APIs, or platform products.
β’ Proven success in delivering SaaS platform features at scale, preferably in a B2B or enterprise environment.
β’ In-depth knowledge of RESTful API design, webhooks, asynchronous messaging, and modern integration methodologies.
β’ Practical experience with API management platforms (e.g., Apigee, AWS API Gateway, Kong, MuleSoft).
β’ Strong capability to develop investment cases based on ROI modeling, market analysis, and competitive differentiation.
β’ Demonstrated experience in leading API or platform product strategy, not just execution.
β’ Comfortable interpreting technical documentation, reviewing API specifications (OpenAPI/Swagger), and engaging in architectural discussions.
