Senior Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Contribute individually by building systems, coding, and managing deployments.

• Collaborate with the team lead and stakeholders to assess and prioritize tasks.

• Partner with colleagues to refine solutions that meet project requirements.

• Keep the project lead and producer informed about updated estimates and delivery schedules.

• Uphold and promote high standards and processes, including testing, CI/CD, and documentation.

• Assist and support team members in their daily responsibilities.

• Understand, maintain, and enhance existing code while also developing new features or systems.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in game development with involvement in at least two commercial game titles, focusing on server backends for AAA games, free-to-play (mobile) games, casino applications, or similar.

• Demonstrated experience in releasing a minimum of two backend services supporting a large number of concurrent users.

• Production experience with at least one of the following: Java, Golang, C#, C++, Kotlin; familiarity with Python, Node.js, and React is a plus.

• Proficient with cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure; AWS Certification (Associate or above) is a plus.

• Experience with infrastructure as code tools, such as Terraform.

• Capability to create supporting documentation, designs, and comments.

• Ability to engage in discussions regarding technical and production topics.

• Excellent time management skills and the ability to work independently.

• Experience in building distributed applications.

• Strong attention to detail with the capacity to understand and follow directions.

• Effective communicator able to articulate conceptual ideas and open to constructive feedback.

• Familiarity with Git, Perforce, or other source control systems.

• Flexibility to adapt to new tools, languages, and concepts as project needs evolve.

• Knowledge of Microservices and Service-Oriented Architectures (SOA), particularly Kubernetes and Docker.

• Experience in creating a CI/CD pipeline for code validation and testing.

• Awareness of security and cheating implications related to technology choices.

• Experience utilizing Gen AI for code generation.
