Senior Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Define the product: Take ownership of and develop essential backend services and infrastructure that support our observability platform, ensuring dependable, high-throughput data pipelines and APIs that developers rely on daily.

• Connect with the community: Collaborate with open-source contributors and customers, address their challenges, and integrate their feedback into our backend architecture and API design.

• Overcome technical hurdles: Design and implement scalable backend systems capable of ingesting, processing, and querying petabytes of observability data. You will create the foundational services that enable engineers to resolve production issues like never before.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 5 years of software engineering experience with a strong emphasis on backend development, particularly in creating developer tools or infrastructure.

• Proficient in TypeScript and Node.js (experience with frameworks such as Express, Fastify, or similar is preferred).

• Strong grasp of API design, distributed systems, and data modeling.

• Experience with Go is advantageous — you will occasionally contribute to Go-based services.

• Familiarity with containerized environments such as Docker and Kubernetes.

• A genuine enthusiasm for open source and the developer community.

• Experience in developing developer tooling and an understanding of how to design with developers in mind.
