Senior Backend Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico, +3 more states.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of features from start to finish — Define scope, design, develop, test, and deploy features independently.

• Produce high-quality code — Write clean, testable, and well-documented code while adhering to strong testing practices.

• Assist the team in overcoming challenges — Actively support colleagues in troubleshooting issues and eliminating obstacles.

• Manage on-call responsibilities — Respond effectively to incidents using monitoring and observability tools.

• Guide junior engineers — Provide mentorship to E1s through collaborative programming, onboarding processes, and code reviews.

• Utilize AI on a daily basis — Employ AI tools to enhance coding, debugging, testing, and learning processes.

• Address technical debt — Identify and resolve issues that hinder team performance.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 3 years of experience in developing backend systems.

• Proficient in Java (knowledge of Python/Go is a bonus).

• Solid understanding of distributed systems, APIs, and cloud infrastructure.

• Strong commitment to testing — including unit tests, integration tests, and edge cases.

• Systematic debugging abilities across service boundaries.

• Fluent in Spanish with a working knowledge of English for cross-team collaboration.
