This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Romania.
• Create and develop the double-entry ledger along with the money-movement engine that serves as the foundation for all transaction reconciliations.
• Model intricate financial workflows as robust, observable state machines that operate reliably over extended durations.
• Ensure financial accuracy under concurrent conditions through the use of idempotent operations, maintaining transactional integrity, and achieving precise reconciliation.
• Manage partial failures and replay scenarios to ensure that events are neither lost, duplicated, nor processed more than once.
• Develop secure, well-versioned APIs.
• Design and enhance PostgreSQL schemas and data models.
• Troubleshoot production issues and take responsibility for the reliability of mission-critical financial workflows.
• Over 5 years of backend development experience in production environments.
• Proven track record in building accurate money-movement systems such as ledgers, settlement systems, payment cores, or transaction-processing platforms.
• Experience in managing double-processing, balance race conditions, concurrency, idempotency, and event replay.
• Experience in developing or managing precise reconciliation systems.
• Strong practices in test-driven development alongside comprehensive test coverage.
• Expertise in Domain-Driven Design.
• Extensive knowledge of PostgreSQL, including schema design, transaction management, isolation levels, and optimization techniques.
• High proficiency in a modern backend technology stack, with deep knowledge of TypeScript/Node.js, Go, or the JVM ecosystem, and the capability to learn additional technologies.
• Experience with cloud deployment.
• Ability to navigate ambiguity, work autonomously, and drive solutions without detailed specifications.
• Nice to have: experience in payments, banking, brokerage, or investment-platform systems.
• Nice to have: knowledge in securities, custody, or portfolio/NAV domains.
• Nice to have: experience with event-driven architectures and message queues.
• Nice to have: familiarity with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Nice to have: understanding of KYC/AML or compliance frameworks.
• Nice to have: knowledge of accounting principles or financial modeling.
