Senior Backend Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Cyprus.

📋 Description

• Develop and enhance Lambda-first microservices that manage real monetary transactions and integrations

• Create REST APIs utilizing type-safe Zod schemas and robust contracts

• Structure data in DynamoDB with an access-pattern-first approach

• Employ PostgreSQL when relational data storage is more suitable

• Deliver event-driven workflows using SQS, EventBridge, and Step Functions

• Implement mechanisms for retries, idempotency, dead-letter management, and backpressure

• Guarantee observability through structured Winston logging, AWS X-Ray distributed tracing, and actionable metrics

• Write tests utilizing Mocha and Sinon to safeguard releases and minimize regressions

• Uphold high-quality standards while ensuring predictable delivery

• Take ownership of tasks from start to finish and contribute to xpate’s fintech platform

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive hands-on backend engineering experience with TypeScript / Node.js

• Proven AWS production experience in building, operating, debugging, and resolving issues in live systems

• Capability to deliver quickly without sacrificing quality

• Commitment to clean code, predictable outcomes, and solid engineering principles

• Daily use of AI tools for coding, debugging, and analysis

• Proficiency in English at a B2+ level

• Familiarity with TypeScript and Node.js versions 18–22

• Experience with AWS services including Lambda, DynamoDB, S3, SQS, EventBridge, and Step Functions

• Knowledge of PostgreSQL

• Experience with Serverless Framework and Middy

• Proficiency in Zod, Winston, AWS X-Ray, and Luxon

• Experience with Mocha and Sinon

• Familiarity with ESLint, Prettier, Terraform, and GitHub Actions
