Senior Back-End Engineer, Rust

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colombia.

📋 Description

• Lead and execute the technical transformation of existing Python-based microservices, data pipelines, and security APIs into production-ready, idiomatic Rust.

• Analyze legacy Python services to pinpoint performance bottlenecks and utilize Rust’s zero-cost abstractions to significantly optimize CPU, memory, and I/O usage.

• Implement and advocate for Rust best practices within the engineering team, including rigorous error handling, strong automated testing, and thorough CI/CD linting approaches.

• Collaborate closely with security and cryptography protocols to ensure that all rewritten Rust modules fully comply with Zero-Trust architecture and memory-safety requirements.

• Partner with cross-functional teams to facilitate seamless integration, engaging in architecture reviews and system design.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 4 years of professional experience in building, deploying, and maintaining high-performance backend applications or APIs in Rust.

• Extensive knowledge of Rust best practices, including asynchronous programming (e.g., Tokio ecosystem), advanced trait design, and safe concurrency.

• Strong proficiency in Python, with the capability to read, profile, and reverse-engineer existing complex codebases effortlessly.

• A proven history of designing scalable, resilient distributed systems and low-latency RESTful or gRPC APIs.

• Hands-on experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and deploying high-availability services in cloud environments (such as AWS or GCP).
